Asheville, NC Interior Design Company Align Design Spotlighted in HGTV Magazine’s “Wow! What Color Is That?”

We’re beyond excited to share that one of our designs was chosen to be featured in HGTV Magazine’s June issue under the section “Wow! What Color Is That?” — available on newsstands now.

The featured space is the dining room of an 849 sq ft condominium located in the Heritage Hill district of Grand Rapids, MI — a project that was also showcased in its entirety on Apartment Therapy back in April 2015.

The Project

When designing this compact condo, the goal was to make a small footprint feel rich, layered, and personal. The featured color, Sherwin Williams Henna Shade, was chosen for its warm, terracotta undertones — reminiscent of the walls of a rustic Italian trattoria where meals are served family-style and laughter carries through the night.

In a space where weekly pasta nights with family, friends, and neighbors took place, the hue created a cozy, communal atmosphere and served as the perfect backdrop for an eclectic art collection.

The HGTV Process

HGTV Magazine reached out to us in February about participating in their upcoming color feature. After submitting photos and completing a detailed questionnaire about the project, particularly our color selections and design rationale, we received the exciting news in April: our project had been selected for publication.

Seeing the work recognized by such an influential design outlet reinforces something we believe deeply: good design always begins with authentic storytelling through color, texture, and lifestyle.

About Align Design

Align Design offers full-spectrum residential and commercial interior design services, from small-scale redecorating to full renovations and new-construction design.

Originally founded in Grand Rapids, MI, the studio relocated to Asheville, NC in 2016, where we’ve continued to craft distinctive spaces that merge form and function.

Our foundation is built on the idea that great design isn’t only about how a space looks, but how it feels. Every project integrates how our clients live and work with their physical surroundings, creating environments that truly resonate.

Good design reflects personality, purpose, and place — and we’re honored that HGTV recognized that philosophy in our work.
